I wish I would have started this sooner, this little project all about love is fun y’all.  Oh what am I talking about?  Well we’re going to be talking about how people found love, when they knew it was love, the biggest love moment of their life ect ect ect on FRIDAYs.  Every Friday will be LooOooooOooove Friday.

We’re starting this all off with a story from Jennifer of “TheNextMartha”.  Have you read her blog?  Well, you’re more likely to be a follower of hers on twitter, than a follower of her blog.  She’s the most popular ‘not-so-much-of-a-blogger’ Blogger I know.  But, her blog is gold when she does get around to posting there.  I started getting to “know” Jennifer in March.  During the campaign to get Martha Stewart to follow her, it turned into Twitter Gold.   But that’s what the TheNextMartha does–turns 140 characters into priceless gold.  But today, she talks about that time she heard voices………….

_______________

This is a little story about how I met my husband and started hearing voices in my head.  I was 19 and was hanging out with a guy in college.  We were talking in a hallway and another guy walked by.  My guy said “That’s Scott, you would like him.”  I thought I was hanging out with YOU dude.  Also, really?  That guy and I didn’t hang out for that much longer.

It was Spanish class next quarter when I saw that Scott was in my class.  I checked him out once when he went up to talk to the professor.  Not bad I thought.  He was a little shorter than I usually go for, but cute.  He sat across the room from me so we never talked.  One day we were paired up to converse in Spanish and something happened.  We spoke in Spanish together as if we had known each other forever and it was very fluid.  Or maybe I just thought so because he could help me with the words I couldn’t remember.  Either way, it was a win for me.

I ended up being the president of the Spanish honor society (shocking right? Also? Take that, Scott) and was able to get free tickets to campus events.  I received two tickets to a hypnotist show.  Scott being the President of Phi Theta Kappa (dammit) also was able to get these tickets.  At some point he walked up to me and asked if I was going to use the tickets. I lied and said I wasn’t sure (I’m totally asking that guy at the pizza place).  He then suggested that we go together and then give one set to someone else (fine).  I did not consider this a date by any means as we had never even spoke in English before this.

-We drove separate.
-He left me to go to the stage.
-We ate after
-I paid for my own meal
-We drove around to talk
-He asked me for a kiss which I gave him as a peck that you would give your grandma.

Our second “date” was with a few of his friends.

Our Third “date” was to a laundry mat.
Huh?  I agree.  He already had me cleaning clothes.  What the hell?

Our Fourth date was our first official, hey we’re going on a date, date.

He met me at my house and we went to a local outdoor mall.  It was December and close to my birthday.  We were walking around and at some point we stopped and were looking over the second floor railing down to the ground.  It started snowing.  Then I looked over at him and a voice in my head said “you’re going to marry this guy.” I said back to the voice “um, why don’t you shut up and enjoy the snow”.  I didn’t even love the guy and now I’m going to marry him?  But there was this comfort that came over me at this moment inside and I knew it was true.

-Nine months later we got engaged.
-Four years later we got married
-Six years later we had our first son
-Four years later we had our second son
-This year we will celebrate being together for 18 years and married for 13 of them.

Sometimes voices in your head are a good thing.

I love these kind of stories. Thank you for sharing.

As an energy work I am sure you have had a past life together in Spain or somewhere spanish was taught.

And that voice in your head–your brillaint intuition!

Excellent post.

I didn’t hear that voice until I was 32. You lucky girl! Congrats on 18 years!

Not that my husband’s name is Scott. It is actually Brad. I just did bad grammar and punctuation. Just sayin’

*sigh* This is what I get for trying to comment while watching my husband watch iCarly. I get distracted by the redonkulousness of it all.
