When BlogHer 11 ended I vowed I would be in NYC in August of 2012, for Blogher 12.  VOWED.  IT WOULD HAPPEN.  Blogher was one of the most soul filling experiences ever, being around my people.  But then life happened.  And at first I resigned that I would not go.  And one thing is still certain, I can not and will not put the financial future of my wee family on the line, and so I can not use any of my savings or what I will have post-divorce on this trip.  Making sure that my children deserve more than that.

But this doesn’t change my absolute desire to go.  I need to go.  My heart needs it.  I need to hug my favorite people, you who have supported me through this tough time in my life.  You who have listened to me and been there for me and encouraged me.  My heart needs that.

So after being asked a few times if I was going to raise money this way or not, I decided I would give it a shot.  I just ask that you don’t donate anonymously, I mean I can’t force you NOT to.  But if I don’t raise enough to go I want to be able to give you your donations back {note I just learned that the people that do this page thing charge a fee.  So it MAY be your donation MINUS that charge.  SORRY!!!}.  Homey-don’t-play-skeezy-stuff.

I have been brainstorming ways to give you something in return.  And at this point I am drawing many a blank.  I would be happy to set up a section on my blog where your button shall sit through a month after BH!  Or longer.  Who knows?  I am really bad about taking down buttons…it may turn out to still be up in 2013.

The truth is, I don’t expect anyone to help me get there.  It feels almost a little wrong to ask you all to help me.  Because you have all been so amazing by being there for me and listening to me and reading my words of frustration and pain and sadness.  But I do want to see you all, and Holden want’s to see all his e-aunties.  So again, no pressure.  If you want to donate to the BH12 fund, now you can.  Just please make sure I know who is leaving what so I can return it if I don’t raise enough!!

update: I am going to add to this as I come up with ideas.  I have this idea that I will make a shirt & onesie for Holden and me and put the twitter handle OR blog name of any one who donates $25 or more.  I will wear the shirt and take pictures and post them on my CC FB page, my personal FB page, my blog & I will tweet it!  Talk about some great PR! :)

update: {edit} My roommate situation fell through.  Long story.  But I am keeping the price lowered in hopes that I find a roommate who doesn’t mind being in a room with a baby who will wake up at night to eat!  If that’s you, message me!  Let’s talk!

Flight: Roughly 400 dollars.
Hotel: Roughly 500 dollars.
Ticket: Roughly 300 dollars. 
Transportation once there: Roughly 80 dollars (because it will be me & Holden & luggage I can’t just hop on a subway unfortch!)
